Off with a BANG! September 30, 2015 (updated October 5, 2015) | By anthonym | 0 Comments Welcome back to September! We’ve gotten off to the new term with a great BANG this year with a District day out for the Beavers, at Hollingworth Lake, taking to the water in canoes and hiking. There was even dancing in the boats! A sleep-over for the scouts. The cubs have been testing out some new kit and making the most of the outdoors while we still have some light. Plain Sailing
End of term fun July 23, 2015 | By anthonym | 0 Comments Beavers and Cubs both break up for the summer at the end of July along with the schools, and return again in Early September. For the last two years Beavers have spent their last evening tubing at Rossendale Ski Slope. The kids have a great time bouncing down the slopes, and even some of the leaders get in on the act. More photos and some videos are on our Facebook Page. This year the Cubs practiced lighting fires and toasted marshmallows in sun. One of the Cubs was presented with his Chief Scout’s Silver award, and we saw a group off to join the Scout Troop. Have a great summer and see you all again on September 9th/10th.
Cubs go Sailing! June 25, 2015 | By anthonym | 0 Comments The Cubs went sailing last weekend on Clowbridge Reservoir with many thanks to Rossendale Valley Sailing Club. We were taken out in two Wayfarer sail boats, Geordie Lass and Gemini, and given a spin in the Sailing Club’s powerboat thrown into the bargain. Although the weather was a bit dull and cloudy, we all had lots of fun, especially when Akeala took control of the sails! After an hour or so out on the water, we went back inside to warm up and took to the table football and chess boards.
